francesco pico
1976 was the year he was born and as he grew up to be a young boy his love for music was already showing. At the age of 8 he got his first guitar and this was the starting signal for a life filled with music. In that time he listened to bands like Camel, Mike Oldfield, Eloy and Queen.
When he was 15 years old (1991) he got in contact with House music. He devoted himself to this "new kind" of music and started experimenting and producing right away. A year goes by when he decided to also pick up deejaying with his aqcuired record collection.
After a few years of experimenting and practicing he released his first 12" called "Fayline" on Waves Records. This was in 1996. This was his entry to perform as deejay at parties in The Hague and Zoetermeer.
A few releases later he struck gold; his club track "we call 'm DJ" almost immediatly appeared in the national clubcharts. It's successor "Iisten to my Heart" also appeared in these charts and was released on several compilated cd's. Also as a remixer Francesco worked hard and got his share of succes.
His remix of "Go ahead London" became a big hit.
1999 was the year he signed up at OneStar. Deejay Erick E's record label. His first release (Magnitude Prefic 1) on this label became a big succes in England. Deejays like Sasha, Anthony Pappa, Ralph Lawson, Matthew Hardwick are just a few names who had his record in their collection. Graham Gold released this track on his Good:As label together with remixes of Dave Angel and Trevor Rockliffe.
More releases followed, for example "The Grid", with the co-production of Matthew Dekay, which was also played by a lot of well known deejays.
After leaving Erick E's OneStar label he decided to focus more on his own style. In the past years he got a lot of inspiration from deejays and producers like Chris Duckenfield from Swag, David Duriez, Inland Nights, Jason Hodges, John Tejada and so on. The Funky Jackin' Tech-house became the style he was going to focus on.
In the year 2004 the track "Masked Sounds" was released on Urbantorque which also became a hit in England. This track appeared on the chartlist of several well-known deejay's like: David Duriez, Laurent Garnier, Murray Richardson and Chris Cargo. Dj's like Juan Atkins, Remy and Michel de Hey played it frequently. Also magazines like DjMag, DJBroadcast en IDJ gave it a very good review.
Franceso knew the time was right to start his own record label. This idea became reality and he called it: "Magnitude Recordings". It's second release "We went to Pluto by bus" is currently available. There are a lot of releases expected this year brought to you by Magnitude Recordings, Chris Duckenfield's Odori (Swag), various labels of Basic Beat and most likely a successor on Urbantorque will be released.
Francesco is also very busy working together with Roell Sapphire under the name Stuccato Fusion. Stuccato Fusion releases will follow soon.
Throught the years Francesco has played in a lot of different clubs. For example: Future @ Nighttown, Kremlin/Eve @ Marcanti Plaza, Beachpop Festival, Pacha Rotterdam, Futurestars @ Escape, De Kade - Zaandam, "It" Amsterdam, Bootleg, Sweetvibes Festivals, Extrema Outdoor festival, Radio 3FM, Off Corso, and TWSTD Amsterdam. For 2 years he was the resident deejay at the DJ Café SOL in Amsterdam. He is a regular guest on Radio 3FM (Ministry of Beats) which has a national coverage and he also has his own weekly nightshow on Fresh FM and Smart FM.
