Hakon Lofthus aka "Hawk" (that's me) was born in a little place called Gj?vik in Norway back in '85.
Although I were raised with sisters listening to Guns n'Roses, and parents listening to Beatles,
it was the electronic music scene that would get my attention. As a seven year old I began to play the guitar, and I think I learned quickly.
The oncoming years I played at school-events, believing that I was the next rock-superstar. But after those early days, the teenage-period comes,
and I threw away my Axel Rose leather-jacket.
Pc's have always caught my interest, and as a 7-year old I already started clicking on a Amiga.
Around the age of 12 I discovered the possibility to make music on a computer again, and my guitar were quickly replaced with Fasttracker, Fruity Loops and ejay programs.
I also bought my first mixer in those days, but no cd-players with pitch or cue, so I learned the beat mixing the hard way, to write down the BPM on tracks and making transitions with a Discman and a crappy sony cd-player.
The local youth-club were quickly the scene where I hammered my tracks to test them out, frustrating for many ears, but heavenly for me.
As I grew I also got more gigs and opportunities.
I started making the local and famous trance parties "Myth" in Norway with some friends, and we actually filled the arenas every time and people all over the country came to party.
This made me get some nice contacts as well, as we had both international djs and the upper-class of djs from Norway playing there.
After getting some attention from the Myth parties, and my productions together with my friend Thomas, I were offered to co-host a electronic music show with Endal at Radio+.
The show were quite a success with famous djs from all over the world contributing with mixes, interviews, fresh tracks etc.
Productionwise, these years weren't my best, and the focus was on everything from trance to hardhouse. It was later on that I would discover the "hawk style" after many years of searching for the sound I wanted. A bit of progressive, a bit of trance, blend it all together, and you got the style of my tracks. Then it all started to roll& After moving to Oslo to begin on my studies, buying some new producing-equipment, and developing my style, the reactions on my tracks started to come. On producers-forums my tracks were greatly received, and some big-name djs also gave me great comments and played them in their sets. Dj-wise I haven't worked a lot on promotion, but focused on hyping my productions. But my turntables are spinning every day, so we'll see how my 7-years of dj'ing can lead up to something bigger than radiostations and Norwegian partys in the near future. All in all, it is now it all starts. With a record-deal and strong inspiration for making new tracks, I am ready for the future, whatever it brings I will evolve in making tracks and spin sets.
