As soon as the news that Solid Black Recordings and Critical State would be working together was confirmed, the name 'Solid State' was born. 'This track was inspired by the relationship that has been started between the two labels, and is also fitting because this isn't the typical style of trance that I produce. It is a beautiful blend of tech and uplifting trance, with less tech and more uplifting then I am used to doing. 'It is always a pleasure working with Brian. Easily one of the most talented musicians in the industry right now, and not to mention just a down right cool guy. This track comes out swinging right off the bat. A massive tech tune that then opens itself up into a brilliant break, with the added voices from G-man (from Half-Life) giving the tune an extremely dark and demented feel. Coming out of the break into a buildup that starts at ground level and doesn't stop until you're in the clouds, with a detune that makes you cringe, the track then drops itself with some chopped vocals right back into the moving tech trance that Brian does oh so well. "Not only is Solid State the debut track for Critical State, but is also the debut release of Casey Rasch. Young and full of energy, this tune just reiterates the personality of its creator. Starting out with a strong, old school influenced sound, the high treble is reminiscent of 90's techno, and with the complimenting stabs in the background, make this an underground anthem. Old school samples with loads of delay, reverb and filters, the unorthodox arrangement of this tune, and the anti-formula/template arrangement attitude of Casey, makes this track one of complete uniqueness and originality.
